Nokia X6 - Yahoo Inc. and Nokia Oyj said it would cooperate to enhance the mobile Internet services, trying to regain lost market share taken their rivals Apple and Google.

At a press conference in New York Monday, the two companies highlights the importance of expanding services for users in emerging markets, where mobile phone use as a primary tool to access the Web increases.

Similarly, Yahoo, has far less market share than Google, owner of the Android operating system used by many vendors phones from Motorola Inc. to HTC Corp.

"Someone said the partnership with the loser will not make you a winner," said Pierre Ferragu, an analyst with Bernstein Research.

"This is sometimes true, but for Motorola, the future of the right which could lead to an attractive investment case is to stabilize more about the position and success in the mobile platform game, up trailing behind Apple and Google."

Neil Mawston from technology analysis firm Strategy Analytics said in an email comment, told Reuters that the agreement may help Yahoo and Nokia provides a mobile service more efficient and cost effective.

The deal could also be the first step towards closer cooperation between the two companies in mobile advertising, said Mawston.

Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz said the company had not invested enough in offering maps and hopes the partnership with Nokia will help him leap into the future. "Yahoo lost focus the map service several years ago," he said.

Bartz said that while a deal with Nokia is not an advertising partnership, supply bids navigation and location technology will help Yahoo expand local marketing and advertising services for consumers.

"The ability to create local ads, really on our radar screen," he said. "After the location combined with great local content, that is what our users to search."

Both companies also say they will start working in access services, starting with making it easy for users to use Nokia Ovi service across Yahoo.

Last month, Yahoo also made a deal with Samsung Electronics to place its software services and more prominent in the mobile-phone mobile phone company made the world's second largest.
